Project director

Reporting to the sector director, project directors oversee their project’s on-budget, on-schedule, and on-specifications performance as set out by the client. They define, mobilise, and coordinate the resources needed to carry out their mandate, providing support to production teams from a range of departments, including administration and finance, contracts, technical, equipment, and quality, occupational health and safety, and the environment. They ensure that corporate policy (quality, safety, human resources, and more) is applied appropriately and they monitor budgets. They stay tuned to the client’s needs.

Works manager/director

Reporting to the project director, works managers and works directors oversee the implementation of works in accordance with schedules, budgets, and quality and safety criteria defined by the client or the project director. They define, mobilise, and coordinate the human and material resources needed to carry out their mandate, with support from assigned personnel from a range of departments, including technical, equipment, quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental, contracts, administration and finance. They apply the company’s general policies, in particular with respect to quality and safety.

Works engineer and works supervisor

Reporting to the works director, works engineers and works supervisors oversee worksite organisation, implementation, and coordination. They implement the resources required to achieve the project in compliance with scheduling, cost, quality, and safety requirements (budget, methods, labour, and site preparation). They also oversee compliance with work plans and execution quality standards. They are responsible for defining and ensuring compliance with prevention and safety rules for their projects. In addition, they must build and sustain relationships with external partners (clients’ representatives, suppliers, subcontractors) and internal partners (foremen, managers, design departments).

Foreman

Reporting to the works engineers or works supervisors, foremen oversee worksite installation, delivery and reception of machinery and equipment, and procurement. They organise work on the basis of plans and coordinates the participation of the various groups of skilled labour at the worksite. They are responsible for meeting project deadlines, defining the number of work hours and amount of skilled labour required, and organising worksite meetings. They participate in training personnel and leading teams.
