Buildings

For all types of contracts (including design-and-build, value-engineering, Early Contractor Involvement, financial package, and partnership agreements), VINCI Construction Grands Projets provides clients with turnkey or custom project solutions.

APPLYING OUR KNOW-HOW TO A WIDE VARIETY OF STRUCTURES

All over the world, we use our expertise to design and construct technically complex buildings:

  1. Airport infrastructure                                                                                 2. Hotel Complexes                                                            3. Museums and iconic buildings

SANTIAGO AIRPORT (Chile) – With 291,000m² of floor space, this is the first project we have developed in full BIM mode: BIM is a technology for modelling building data throughout the life cycle of a building. This digital model is useful for the design and construction process, centralising all information.

PROJECT ALILA, KOTA KINABALU (Malaysia) – This luxurious “green jewel” of a resort is located on the seafront near a mangrove area on the island of Borneo. It was designed and built by our teams for the operator ALILA.

The LOUIS VUITTON FOUNDATION (France) – The studies on the walls and roofs required 1,500,000 hours of wo rk. First of all, we corrected the reference areas, to ensure they could be built on. This “rationalisation” stage required six months of work and allowed the industrial manufacturing process to begin for the 3,600 curved elements of the glass roofs, the 19,000 concrete façade panels and their supporting structures.

FULL CONTROL OVER THE DESIGN AND RESOURCES REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION

We use our expertise as a contractor to our clients and their projects, offering them a vision that is relevant and tailored to their needs. Our ability to handle all facets of the design process, combined with total control over supply chains, supported by a network of trusted partners and subcontractors, ensures we can offer a streamlined approach from the very beginning and reliable, sustainable and economical construction solutions.

In addition to its own know-how, our Buildings department draws on the complementary unified technical expertise of VINCI Construction Grands Projets’ Engineering department. Our clients thus have access to multidisciplinary teams committed to the high overall performance of structures designed to meet their environmental, technical and budgetary requirements.

We carry out many projects on a design-to-cost basis, sizing infrastructure, methods and construction to create optimum value for the client and future users.

HOTEL LAPONIE (Finland) – Real estate development followed by design-build work in partnership with the future operator for this luxury hotel located far from civilisation, north of the Arctic Circle, in the heart of Lapland.

MONTIJO AIRPORT (Portugal) – Under an ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) contract, a reworking of the existing preliminary design with a view to improving and optimising the project both economically and environmentally. The efforts of our technical teams and the solutions presented to achieve LEED GOLD certification for the entire airport – which will also be a world first – have also reduced the carbon footprint of the initial project by 27% in TeqCO2 over the life cycle of the building and related structures.

Our expertise in urban development is vitally important for the prestigious hotel complexes that we develop. For these large-scale projects, we work with leading architects, interior designers and landscape architects to provide innovative designs that are perfectly integrated into their environments.

Nisa (Turkménistan) : Studies for a government conference centre. We took account of all the necessary flow, safety and security constraints for receiving IEC delegations. Combined with a 150-room palace-style hotel, decorated in a Parthe style, this unique complex comes with all the assurances offered by a unique skillset in this field.

INTERNATIONAL SOURCING FROM FRANCE AND MALAYSIA

Our logistical expertise and ability to offer cost-effective solutions are supported by a dedicated purchasing team based in Paris and Kuala Lumpur. We leverage our experience and major projects throughout the world to provide our clients with a network of proven partners and subcontractors, for cost and time optimisation and increased competitiveness.

The integration of our design and purchasing departments within the project, working in direct contact with our production teams, is a major asset.

The synergies based on this threefold partnership contribute to the streamlined management of the project. They enable the development of technical variants and tailor-made construction methods, not only for productivity and safety gains during the construction phase, but also better energy performance of the structures and improved maintenance during the operating phase.

BELGRADE AIRPORT (Serbia) – The use of 3D and lean management methods allowed us to better visualise flows and rigorously minimise our time spent working in each of the zones of this operating airport.

METHODS AND PROCESSES, SERVING OUR PROJECTS

Our activity is structured around a differentiating process approach, ensuring that risks are identified and controlled on all our projects. This approach, which includes local issues, ensures optimised interface management throughout design-build projects.

The use of lean management methods at all our sites is central to everything we do, providing a guarantee of our operational excellence and the quality of our work.

LE MANDARIN ORIENTAL (UK) – The extensive use of 3D scanning and the incorporation of point clouds into our BIM project models considerably reduced the number of “surprises” during the refurbishment of this palace, which remained 50% open throughout our work.

INNOVATIVE PROJECT ENGINEERING

Our entrepreneurial spirit is embedded in our DNA and acts as the cement of our innovation policy, serving our projects. Our technical excellence is supported by an agile engineering department and specialised teams (BIM, geotechnics, methods, materials, concrete, structures, etc.) using the latest cutting-edge technologies and techniques. We are developing internal know-how and tools, enabling us to offer tailor-made solutions to our clients and streamline the design, construction and running of our projects.

We also draw upon the specific skills and resources of our sister companies in the VINCI group to provide competitive integrated offerings.

RESPONSES TO ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES AND BUILDING RESILIENCE

We are attentive to the impact of our activities on the territories, and have environmental certifications that meet international standards (including LEED). We are committed to managing our environmental footprint and providing sustainable solutions.

This ambition is reflected at all our construction sites, where we carry out a carbon assessment to monitor and limit our emissions. We also attach great importance to the preservation of local biodiversity and the management of raw resources, including water recovery and reuse measures. We are also a proactive force in terms of structural design, including eco-design (“green data centres”, etc.) and solutions to promote the efficient use of energy in buildings (orientation, dynamic thermal simulation, etc.).

PORT-AU-PRINCE AIRPORT CONTROL TOWER (HAITI) – We are building the control tower destroyed in the January 2010 earthquake in this particularly sensitive country. Our experts put forward a specific technical solution to enable better channelling of run-off water during heavy rainfall, which is a common occurrence in this part of the world.

5* RESORT ON A DESERT ISLAND (Middle East) – The design of this resort will not disrupt the surrounding ecosystems, but rather enhance the harmonious life of all organisms living on and around the island, including protecting the nesting grounds of green and hawksbill turtles. In the long term, the aim of this bioclimatic project is to be 100% energy self-sufficient.

Our designs are perfectly tailored to the specific climatic and environmental characteristics of the regions where our structures are built. We make it a priority to ensure that buildings are resilient and durable in their environments, no matter how extreme the conditions (typhoons, earthquakes, monsoons, floods and tsunami risks, etc.)
