Systems integration

We have developed a competency in civil engineering and equipment integration to form a system. This approach allows interfaces to be planned well in advance of a project for design optimisation.

To deliver turnkey projects

This know-how applies to various types of projects such as metros, trains, motorways, tunnels, hydraulic infrastructure (dams, pumping stations, water treatment and supply plants) and energy sector facilities.

Focus Qatar

In Qatar, our Qatari Diar VINCI Construction subsidiary, together with an equipment manufacturer, delivered in 2020 the four lines of a turnkey light rail transit system in the new city of Lusail: we participated in an ECI arrangement when the master plan of this new city of 200,000 residents had barely been drawn up.

TO INTEGRATE CRITICAL CROSS-CUTTING ISSUES FOR PROJECTS

Certain subjects, while critical for the proper functioning of a structure, such as lightning, corrosion, electrical corrosion or stray-current prevention, are sometimes neglected because they cut across different activities carried out on site. Our consolidated know-how in system integration enables us to identify them upstream and ensure that they are taken into consideration by everyone involved in the project.

Winning design-build formula

Understanding equipment issues early on in the project life cycle allows to optimise the dimensions of the structure to make it more efficient, safer, less costly, and easier to meet short delivery deadlines.

Design-build projects, where we can implement our systems engineering know-how (V-cycle), therefore benefit greatly from our skills as a systems integrator.

Thus, the anticipation of ventilation needs or planning for the emergency evacuation of the public in case of a fire have a direct impact on the size of the tunnels to be built. From the design phase, our systems integration teams are able to offer optimisations for the better functioning of the structure. The Safety in Design initiative is part of this approach, as it identifies safety issues for builders and users at the earliest possible stage in the project design phase.

Focus Duplex A86

On the A86 motorway duplex tunnel west of Paris, fire prevention and tunnel evacuation became particularly important subjects a few months after the fire in the Mont Blanc tunnel.
To ensure optimal performance in this regard, smoke-removal time was studied in detail and models were designed to test the effectiveness of the design. An innovative tunnel cooling system using mist cannons to prevent flames in the event of a fire was installed.
